Introductory Lessons are designed for first-time students to learn the basics of sound production and note reading. Students at this level learn to play and read the 17 notes represented by the "tapes" in quarter and half notes.
Weekly, 30-minute lessons are recommended.
Beginner Lessons assume a basic understanding of note reading and sound production. This level approaches Key Signatures from the perspective of diverging from the "tapes". Students at this level learn to read and play all chromatic pitches of first position in sixteenth notes.
Intermediate Lessons introduce more advanced techniques including shifting, vibrato, and student concertos. Students at this level learn all 2-octave scales and prepare to audition for AMEA Regionals (if applicable).
Weekly, 1-hour lessons are recommended.
Advanced Lessons are available for viola only and begin a student with standard concerto repertoire, technical studies, and advanced etudes. Students at this level learn all 3-octave scales and prepare to audition for AMEA all-state and potentially college (if applicable).
Weekly, 1-hour sessions are recommended.
